PROGRAMMING UPDATE as of February 1, 2022

Welcoming you back to Streetcar Crowsnest!
#ReturnToTheNest

Yesterday, we opened the doors to Streetcar Crowsnest once again, and the company of GLORIA arrived to begin rehearsals. We are feeling very hopeful, and look forward to gathering again to experience the magic of theatre together.

With a few exceptions, our 2021.22 season continues as planned. GLORIA, “a whip-smart satire of fear and loathing in a beleaguered industry under siege” (NYT), will run March 1 to 20, 2022 in the Guloien Theatre.

GLORIA will be followed by the world premiere of a new George F. Walker play, ORPHANS FOR THE CZAR, a high-stakes comedy, and a plea for decency, directed by Tanja Jacobs and starring Eric Peterson. The season closes with the “must see” (Radio-Canada) French production, SINGULIÈRES, direct from Quebec, a co-presentation with Théâtre français de Toronto.

Due to the impact of the Omicron wave, we are unable to move forward with the public workshop presentations of FIFTEEN DOGS. We wish to thank Margaret AtwoodBob and Martie Sachs, and The Scott Griffin Foundation for their generous support of FIFTEEN DOGS in this development year, as well as the subscribers and patrons who purchased tickets. We have also decided to refocus our resources on the remainder of the live season, and will no longer be streaming digital versions of MIXTAPE and ORPHANS FOR THE CZAR.

We are working very hard to bring both FIFTEEN DOGS and BENGAL TIGER AT THE BAGHDAD ZOO back to you next season.

Thank you so much for your continued support, we could not have come this far without you. Stay safe and see you at the theatre.

PERFORMANCE UPDATE as of January 20, 2022

Despite our best efforts, we regret to inform you of the cancellation of Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo, originally scheduled to run January 11-30, 2022.

Returning to Modified Stage Two of the provincial government’s Roadmap to Reopen interrupted our planned run of the show. Today’s announcement will keep our theatre closed until January 31.

We had great hope for Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo, but the pervasiveness of the Omicron variant has made it difficult to move forward, also precluding us from producing a digital version of the show.

We want to thank the cast, creative team, and crew for their unwavering commitment to this show and for the magic they brought to the rehearsal hall every day. We share your disappointment.

We will continue to monitor government policy and public health authorities to ensure we are operating with best practices and offering the safest experience possible when we welcome you back. Stay up-to-date on our COVID-19 response, policy, and procedures here.

The ARC production of Gloria, co-presented by Crow’s Theatre, will be performed as planned, March 1 to 20, 2022. We will update you on any changes to the workshop presentation of Fifteen Dogs very soon.

Subscribers and ticket holders will be contacted directly via email.

We cannot thank you enough for your support and understanding.
