The city’s last affordable house is for sale. Heads roll and shrimp tails fly when a frantic, 12-hour bidding war erupts during what was supposed to be a routine open house. Agents turn on buyers, buyers turn on agents, and everything spirals into an uproarious dark comedy of desperation and anxiety.
This season’s largest cast brings everyday homebuyers to life as they grapple with extraordinary circumstances, skyrocketing housing costs, gentrification, and sabotage.
THE BIDDING WAR features a knock-out ensemble cast including Aurora Browne (Baroness Von Sketch Show), Sergio Di Zio (Four Minutes Twelve Seconds), Izad Etemadi (Mad Madge), Peter Fernandes (The Master Plan), Veronica Hortiguela (Prodigal), Amy Matysio (It’s A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play), Fiona Reid (Hedda Gabler), Gregory Prest (De Profundis: Oscar Wilde in Jail), Steven Sutcliffe (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child), Sophia Walker (The House That Will Not Stand), and Gregory Waters (Letterkenny).
Michael Ross Albert (The Huns, Tough Jews) is a Toronto-based playwright, screenwriter, independent producer, educator, dramaturge, and Dora-Award winning theatre artist Paolo Santalucia (Prodigal, Casimir and Caroline, Orphans for the Czar) is the Associate Artistic Director at Crow’s Theatre.

THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME
Leilani Farha with Nahlah AyedBehind the idea of housing, for Leilani Farha, is the idea of home- a "configuration of spaces" with many roles, social and emotional, that play an important role in making us the people we are. But for people to create homes, they need housing- and we all need a better understanding of the relation between the two.Leilani Farha is the Global Director of The Shift, an international human rights organization focused on housing, finance, and climate. She is the former UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Housing (2014-2020) and is credited with sparking a global conversation challenging the commodification of people's homes. She has worked in communities and with governments around the world and has pioneered human rights standards on a number of housing issues. Leilani frequently publishes opinions in mainstream media and is the lead character in the award-winning documentary PUSH.
