EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY: Events Summer Internship at Streetcar Crowsnest

 
Crow’s Theatre is seeking a Summer Intern to join our busy team during our peak events-season in our new performing arts and events facility, Streetcar Crowsnest, one of the first in Toronto’s burgeoning East End. 
 
This position provides a unique opportunity to work with our Events Sales Manager and Events Manager on the pre-planning and execution of events scheduled in our facility in the summer of 2018. The intern will assist the events team to promote the venue and the wide array of events possible while learning about building relationships with potential clients.
 
Duties will include attending internal meetings, preparing planning documents, research, coordinating activities with internal team members, the set up and strike of venue-related details for events, being on-site during events to help with tasks and coordinate as needed. There will be daily contact, guidance and mentorship in the Crow's Theatre office as well as significant self-directed work. The student's involvement in an array of activities within the company will enable a very productive mentorship experience for their future in Events planning and management.     

 Qualifications:

 
  • Pursuing post-secondary education in Events Management, or a related field
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
  • Good time management with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines, and prioritize with minimal direction
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Previous experience working with databases would be considered an asset
  • Previous working experience in an arts-, entertainment- and/or events company would be an asset

To be eligible to participate, in accordance with the terms of the program funding, the individual must:

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
  • have been registered as a full-time student of a post-secondary institution in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act; and,
  • be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial/ territorial legislation and regulations.
 

Contract Dates: June 25– August 31, 2018 (30hrs/week for 10 weeks)
