About The Position

Crow's Theatre is seeking an experienced Project Technical Director to join the production team for All's Well, a production that will premiere at Crow’s Theatre before touring to Theatre Aquarius in Hamiton, Ontario.


Working closely with the Director of Production, Assistant Technical Director, designers, production staff, and external vendors, the Project Technical Director will oversee the technical planning and execution of the production from pre-production through load-in, technical rehearsals, performances, and the production aspects of the tour to Hamilton. This contract combines remote pre-production work with on-site technical direction during the build, installation, performance, and tour period. The successful candidate will coordinate scenic fabrication, technical scheduling, budgeting support, contractor and vendor management, and ensure the safe and efficient realization of the production while maintaining Crow's Theatre's high artistic and production standards.  This is a fixed-term contract position with remote work leading up to technical installation of the production, with onsite work taking place at Crow’s Theatre & Theatre Aquarius from the load-in period to both Openings, plus strike and load out at each location. 

Responsibilities

The Project Technical Director will assist the Company with Technical Direction, acting in a contract role of Technical Director for the productions of All’s Well and will support ongoing Technical Direction and Production department needs, as assigned.  

In particular, the Contractor will provide the Company with the following services from Aug 4, 2026, to February 15, 2027:

The Contractor will report to the Director of Production while working collaboratively with other members of the production team, other Crow’s Theatre departments, and the creative and production teams of All’s Well.

Evening and weekend work will be required as dictated by the production schedule.

Compensation

This is a fixed-term contract position with a total contract fee of $10,000 CAD, payable over the course of the engagement in accordance with the contract terms. As an independent contractor, the Project Technical Director will be responsible for their own statutory deductions, taxes, insurance, and other obligations. The contract fee is intended to compensate for all services required to successfully complete the project as outlined in the scope of work.  Paid accommodation and per diems will also be provided during the period when work is required in Hamilton, Ontario.
